ARF Bureau Representative meets President of Cyprus

Today, at the Presidential Palace, President of the Cyprus Republic Nicos Anastasiades received the delegation headed by the Representative of the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Bureau Hagop Der Khachadourian, consisting of the representative of the Armenian Community, MP Vartkes Mahdessian, ARF Cyprus Committee Chairman Simon Aynedjian and members Vahan Aynedjian and Raffi Mahdessian. The Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou was also present.
Welcoming the ARF Bureau Representative in Cyprus, President Anastasiades assured [the delegation] that the Cypriot government supports the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people in Armenia and the Diaspora. He stressed that the Cypriot government through its work in international organizations, such as the United Nations and the European Union, will always work effortlessly in defending the interests of the Republic of Armenia and the rights of the people of Nagorno Karabagh
President Anastasiades confirmed that the Cypriot delegation at the European Union is already pushing for resolutions for issues that take place in the Repubic of Armenia. President Anastasiades reminded that his relations with the Armenian Representative [in Cyprus] MP Vartkes Mahdessian have always been smooth and positive. ARF Bureau Representative Hagop Der Khachadourian acknowledged and thanked the President for the Cypriot government’s caring attitude towards the Cypriot-Armenian community and assured President Anastasiades that the ARF Dashnaktsoutiun, with its global organizational structure, is at the disposal of the Cypriot government to drive and be helpful in the just resolution of the Cypriot cause. He added that through the efforts of Armenian Representative MP Vartkes Mahdessian, during the last few years, large-scale work has been done to strengthen the relation between the Cypriot government and the Cypriot-Armenian community. He stressed that this relationship will remain in the future and will continue to strengthen.
Der Khatchadourian reminded President Anastasiades that the ARF Hye Tad Committees which are found in multiple countries, all have relations with the Cypriot embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions, all of whom work together to further the Cypriot and Armenian causes.
The Chairman of the ARF Cyprus Committee Simon Aynedjian informed President Anastasiades that the ARF Bureau Representative had a number of meetings with the newly-elected Cypriot Members of the European Parliament, assuring that this connection would continue after these meetings and that the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) office in Brussels had, and will continue to cooperate with the newly-elected Cypriot MEP’s, to advance together the interests of the Cypriot and Armenian peoples.
The meeting lasted for half an hour at the end of which a small, symbolic souvenir exchange took place.
