ARF Representatives meet with European Forum Delegation

Today at the ARF Bureau Yerevan “Krisdapor Mikayelyan” Center representatives of the ARF met with European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity delegation, which was made up of academics and representatives of European foundations. The visit is part of a program to study the developments in Eastern European (Social) Democracy, supported by the Party of European Socialists
(PES).
During the meeting, ARF Bureau president, Armen Rustamyan, welcomed the guests, stressing the importance of their mission of studying the developments of democracy in the region and especially in Armenia. Armen Rustamyan presented the latest political developments, public perception, challenges that the country will face, etc.
ARF Supreme Council of Armenia representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan spoke about ARF’s upcoming activities as an extra-parliamentary force in regards to domestic and foreign policy. Saghatelyan also spoke of the ARF Supreme Council’s Sectoral Committees whose functions are to study and analyze the government’s activity and make proposals. The 11 committees are made up of professionals of each field they represent. Saghatelyan noted that through these committees, the ARF will be able to provide support to the government, adding that the ARF is always open to cooperation on areas of common interest.
The European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity was founded in January 1993 by social democratic parties and political foundations from EU countries, with a goal to promote socialism and democratic values in different countries and regions.
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation is a member of the European Socialist party.
