The new sanctions by the United States on the Islamic Republic of Iran have created new challenges and discriminatory issues in the Republic of Armenia for citizens born in Iran. In the last few days, a number of Armenian banks have demanded that citizens of Armenia born in Iran close their personal bank accounts. In essence, the banks are violating the lawful rights of RA citizens; as a result, they are violating the constitutional rights of our compatriots, depriving them of the opportunity to use banking services and limiting their economic activity, thereby negatively affecting the social conditions of RA citizens born in Iran. The implications also adversely impact the economic ties between the republics of Iran and Armenia and the overall process of expected investments.

The ARF Dashnaktsutyun highlights the importance of the improvement of the social conditions of our repatriated citizens, the consolidation of the pan-Armenian potential, the implementation of active economic and investment programs between the two countries, and demands that the RA government and RA Central Bank ensure the full restoration of the violated rights of the affected citizens as soon as possible. At the same time, we express our readiness to assist in finding legal and political solutions for the sake of our compatriots.
